Build Your Imaginary Robot With This Awesome LEGO Mindstorms NXT 2.0

NXT 2 Lego is a line of programmable robotics/ construction toys, manufactured by the Lego Group. Mindstorms originated from the programmable sensor blocks used in the line of educational toys. The first retail version of Lego Mindstorms was released and marketed commercially as the Robotics Invention System (RIS). The next version known as Lego Mindstorms NXT. Now the newest version, is released , known as NXT 2 Lego. This lego set contains a new sensor, called the Color Sensor, that has the ability of detecting colors. This lego product contains 619 pieces & this Lego Product ID is 8547.

NXT 2.0 designed for ages 10 and up, the 2.0 robotics tool set features everything you need to create and program your first robot in approximately one hour. After that, you can body robots that can do what you want–if you can brainstorm it, you can body it.

The original Mindstorms Robotics Invention System kit contained two motors, two touch sensors, and one light sensor. The NXT version has three servo motors and one sensor each for touch, light, sound, and distance. The NXT 2.0 Lego has two blow sensors & abutment for four after application a sensor multiplexor. Lego Mindstorms may be used to build a model of an embedded system with computer-controlled electromechanical parts. Many kinds of real-life embedded systems, from elevator controllers to industrial robots, may be modelled using Mindstorms.

Mindstorms kits are also sold and used as an educational tool, originally through a partnership between Lego and the MIT Media Laboratory. The educational adaptation of the articles is alleged Lego Mindstorms for Schools, and comes with the ROBOLAB GUI-based programming software, developed at Tufts University application the National Instruments LabVIEW as an engine. In addition, the shipped software can be replaced with third party firmware and/or programming languages, including some of the most popular ones used by professionals in the embedded systems industry, like Java and C. The only difference between the educational series, known as the “Challenge Set”, and the consumer series, known as the “Inventor Set”, is that it includes another light sensor and several more gearing options.

I bought this to use in a high-school classroom. My students loved programming the robot once it was put together. The bureaucracy action isn’t ideal for the classroom, as there are lots of baby pieces that can be calmly lost. In the future, I will assemble robots myself and then let the kids do the programming. It’s not that the kids CAN’T build the project (because clearly, the 10-year-old had no problem), but it was hard for them to do it as a group. Assembly required a lot of focus and space.”
